The President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) pays a courtesy call on President Dr Muizzu

H.E. President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Dr Muhammad Al Jasser paid a courtesy call on H.E. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today in UAE, on the sidelines of the Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
During the meeting, they discussed close collaboration on mutually beneficial areas, with a focus on the growth of the Islamic financial sector, the construction of a Zakat House, a Waqf program, and the establishment of a Microfinance Bank.
President H.E Dr. Muizzu also informed on the renewable energy target announced during his speech at COP28. He also stressed on the importance of adaptation projects and infrastructure development to increase climate resilience.
In conclusion, President Dr Muizzu and the IsDB President expressed shared interests to strengthen the partnership between the Maldives and the Islamic Development Bank in the days ahead, to further enhance and facilitate the existing ties.
