Maldivian Ambassador to Bhutan presents credentials to Bhutanese king

Non-Resident Ambassador of the Maldives to Bhutan Shiuneen Rasheed has presented her letter of credentials to Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Ambassador Shiuneen presented her credentials to King Wangchuck during a special ceremony held at Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, on Friday.
Following the presentation of credentials, King Wangchuck graciously received Ambassador Shiuneen and congratulated her on assuming her duties as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to Bhutan.
Ambassador Shiuneen expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings and best wishes from Mohamed Muizzu to the King and the people of Bhutan. She also reaffirmed the Maldives Government’s gratitude for the longstanding friendship and goodwill shared between the two nations.
During the audience, the Ambassador reiterated the Maldivian government’s strong commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties with Bhutan and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
After the credentials ceremony, Ambassador Shiuneen paid courtesy calls on Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Foreign Minister D. N. Dhungyel. Discussions during this meeting focused on enhancing Maldives–Bhutan relations and deepening collaboration in priority sectors.
She is also scheduled to meet with Bhutan’s Industry, Commerce and Employment Minister Namgyal Dorji.
Ambassador Shiuneen Rasheed currently serves as High Commissioner of the Maldives to Bangladesh and will concurrently serve as Non-Resident Ambassador to Bhutan, with residence in Dhaka. She was appointed to the post by President Mohamed Muizzu on February 26th.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Maldives and the Kingdom of Bhutan were established on July 13,  1984. The two countries continue to maintain cordial and constructive ties, engaging through bilateral, regional and multilateral platforms, reflecting their shared commitment to peace, stability and sustainable development.
