Ameen: Seaplane service launch in Thooddoo would further drive tourism

Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen states the launch of seaplane service in AA. Thoddoo would further drive tourism on the island.
Seaplane service was launched at Thoddoo on Thursday. The launching ceremony, which featured various cultural showcases, was officiated by the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, who is from the island.
In a post on X about the new service, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen said the development would greatly strengthen tourism in both the island and the atoll, while also making travel more convenient for local residents.

Special promotional fares for Maldivians have been introduced alongside the new service, with one-way tickets priced at MVR 799.
The launch of seaplane travel comes as Thoddoo remains a highly popular tourist destination. The island, with a population of about 2,000, is known for its growing guesthouse sector and thriving agricultural industry.
The commencement of seaplane services to Thoddoo, renowned for watermelon farming, fulfills a major pledge made by President Mohamed Muizzu.
