Maldives condemns attack on UAE Consulate in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region

The Government of the Maldives has condemned the recent attack targeting the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maldives said that attacks on diplomatic missions constitute a serious violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and undermine established norms governing diplomatic engagement between states.
The Government also emphasised the importance of ensuring the protection of diplomatic premises and personnel.
The Maldives further expressed its solidarity with the Government and the people of the United Arab Emirates following the incident.
