A private company has installed ADh. Atoll’s first ice plant in Mahibadhoo.
The ice plant installed by Five Line Fisheries began their services during the previous week. The plant is capable of producing upto 30 tonnes of ice per day.
Director of Five Line Fisheries, Mr. Mohamed Muthalib revealed that the plant is also capable of storing a maximum of 10 tonnes of fish. He added that, upon the request of the island’s council arrangements have been made to store the catch of local islanders in the plant.
Mr. Muthalib also added that the Ice Plant will begin buying catch in the coming month or so. In a bid to provide all essential services to fishermen from Mahibadhoo, the company will also be arranging to sell oil and water as well.
While there are several ice plants scattered across the island nation, ones by private companies are quite few. As such, MIFCO is the owner of the highest number of ice plants as they operate 16 plants in the Maldives.
