Maldives Zakat House has opened applications for higher education scholarships and special scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students seeking to pursue advanced studies both locally and abroad.
According to an announcement by the Zakat House on 17 May, the scholarship program includes nine opportunities for Master’s programmes and 10 opportunities for PhD studies in a range of Islamic disciplines. These include Islamic Shariah, Qur’anic Sciences, Islamic Education, Islamic Research and Publications, Islamic Journalism, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, and Islamic Leadership and Management, among others.
The Zakat House said applicants may propose additional fields of study beyond those listed, provided the proposed programme contributes meaningfully to the development of Islamic society in the Maldives.
While a total of 30 scholarships is being offered under this scheme, 10 are allocated for studies within the Maldives and 20 for studies abroad. In addition, special scholarship schemes have been introduced. These include five stipend-based opportunities for students currently studying in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, as well as five special scholarships aimed at training female doctors in areas related to women’s health.
The deadline for submission is 16 July 2026 at 14:00 hours, and applications must be sent via email to [email protected].
