Ihavandhoo won the Charity Shield of the “Thila Uthuru Futsal Tournament 2025,” organized by the Haa Alifu Atoll Council for the islands of the atoll, last night. In the Charity Match played before the tournament officially began, the reigning champions, Ihavandhoo, competed against the host island, Utheemu. The match, which started at 20:30 last night, ended in a 1-1 draw after full time. Ihavandhoo’s Ali Naish scored the first goal in the first half, but Utheemu equalized in the second half. The goal for Utheemu was scored by Rishwan Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa. As the match ended in a draw, a penalty shootout was held to determine the winner of the shield. Ihavandhoo successfully converted all their penalties. The penalty takers for Ihavandhoo were Ali Naish, Shifaz, Captain Fazeel, Mohamed Rayyah, and Yanal. Utheemu lost the shield after failing to convert one penalty. This was the penalty taken by Utheemu’s captain, Rifau, which was saved by the Ihavandhoo goalkeeper. The successful penalty takers for Utheemu were Rishwan, Mohamed Mazeen, and Mohamed Ailam Abdulla. The match was graced by the Commissioner of Sports, Mohamed Tholal. The first official matches of the tournament will begin this afternoon at 16:00. The opening match of the tournament will also be between Ihavandhoo and Utheemu. Three more matches will be played today. In the second match at 17:00, Muridhoo will face Dhihdhoo, while at 20:00, Vashafaru will play Filladhoo. The match between Kelaa and Baarah will be played at 21:00. The schedule for the tournament matches:
