Authorities arrested a local youth suspected of trafficking and trading illicit narcotic substances at a large scale.
The suspect, aged 20, was arrested following a report to Police Drug Intelligence department. The operation was carried jointly by Drug Enforcement and Drug Intelligence departments of Maldives Police Service.
The suspect was inspected for possession of substances, that constitutes for possession of drugs deemed sufficient of culpability for a drug trafficker in accordance with local law.
Sufficient level of substance was discovered from the local's belonging.
However, authorities refrained from disclosing details and the nature of the substances confiscated during the raid.
The matter is currently under investigation.
