President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu Concludes UK Visit, Strengthening Maldives–UK Relations

His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after a successful visit to the United Kingdom, where he engaged in high-level discussions to deepen bilateral cooperation.
During the visit, President Muizzu met with senior British officials, including Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. Key topics included climate adaptation, education and scholarships, sustainable fisheries and tourism, and UK support for justice sector reforms.
The President also had a private audience with His Majesty King Charles III at Windsor Castle, reaffirming the enduring partnership between the Maldives and the UK, marking six decades of diplomatic relations.
Additionally, President Muizzu met with Commonwealth Secretary-General Hon Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey to discuss advancing cooperation.
As part of the Maldives-UK–UK Business Forum, which emphasized trade and investment opportunities, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the West London Chambers of Commerce and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. The visit also saw the official launch of the Maldives’ fisheries promotion brand, From Maldives, to boost international market presence.
This landmark visit highlighted the strong friendship and ongoing collaboration between the two nations.
