The Bank of Maldives (BML) has rolled out a new update to its AI‑powered digital banking assistant, Aaya, within the BML Mobile Banking App and Internet Banking platform.
As part of the upgrade, the messaging feature that previously allowed customers to send banking requests through the app and web portal has been disabled, directing all inquiries to Aaya for a more streamlined experience.
According to BML, the refreshed Aaya now delivers timely support by automatically resolving common queries and processing banking requests with greater efficiency. Customers can still opt for personalised assistance—Aaya offers the option to connect directly with a bank staff member whenever a human touch is required, ensuring that help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to BML, this update reflects its ongoing commitment to leveraging technology to improve service quality and convenience for its customers, adding that by focusing interactions through Aaya, it can provide quicker, more consistent responses while still offering the option to speak with a representative when needed.
Aaya was first launched on 31 May 2023 as BML’s inaugural AI‑driven digital assistant, aimed at delivering uninterrupted, round‑the‑clock support. The latest enhancements are part of the bank’s broader strategy to modernise its digital banking suite and deliver a seamless, user‑friendly experience across all channels.
