A Para Table Tennis coaching camp has commenced in Kulhudhuffushi City.
According to the Kulhudhuffushi City Council, this coaching camp is being conducted with their assistance in collaboration with the Maldives Paralympic Committee, the Table Tennis Association, and the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
The camp will be held from the 17th to the 21st of January 2024.
The City Council highlighted that this initiative is a significant step toward developing inclusive sports in Kulhudhuffushi City and providing opportunities for persons with disabilities in the field of athletics.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the camp, the Deputy Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City, Ahmed Abdullah (Rosey), stated that although laws and regulations exist to include children with disabilities in society, the most effective way to achieve this is by increasing awareness through such activities.
During this coaching camp, participants will be taught the fundamental skills of table tennis as well as the principles of Para sports.
This activity is part of the ongoing efforts to promote Para sports across various regions of the Maldives.
