PPM reveals 1,146 people are seeking party’s ticket for local council elections

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has revealed over 1,100 candidacy forms have been received for the upcoming local council elections.
Speaking at a press briefing, Spokesperson Heena Waleed said PPM received 1,146 candidacy forms to compete for island councils, atoll councils and city councils. Heena said PPM received candidacy forms for 14 atoll councils, 51 island councils and 4 city councils. She said the primary will be held on February 7, adding PPM will publish a candidacy list for the party primary on January 29.
Moreover, speaking at the press on behalf of the steering committee, Mohamed Rasheed said several complaints have been received from members who have been removed from the party registry, following the publication of the voters' list by PPM.
