Maldives’ brand to be showcased at Liverpool vs Man U match in 10 languages

Visit Maldives Corporation has announced that it will be showcasing its branding at one of the world’s largest sporting stages, the English Premier League (EPL) match featuring Liverpool FC and Manchester United, in 10 languages including Dhivehi.
The match is scheduled for Sunday, October 19th, at Anfield Stadium in the United Kingdom, at 20:30pm Maldives time.
As part of its Official Tourist Destination Partnership with Liverpool Football Club, Visit Maldives will showcase its branding on Anfield’s LED perimeter boards and digital screens in ten different languages — including English, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Italian, Korean, and Dhivehi. This initiative emphasizes the Maldives’ worldwide appeal and its ability to connect with diverse audiences. Notably, for the first time ever, the name “Maldives” will be displayed in the Dhivehi script, marking a significant and proud milestone for the country on one of the world’s most prominent sporting stages.
The "Battle of the Reds" match is set to engage a global audience of millions through both broadcast and digital channels. This extensive exposure presents a unique opportunity for Visit Maldives to boost brand recognition, inspire prospective travelers, and further solidify the Maldives’ image as a premier destination for luxury and immersive experiences.
During the event, Visit Maldives will showcase the country’s wide range of tourism options — from luxurious resorts and family-oriented activities to adventure, wellness, and cultural experiences. The campaign will also spotlight the Maldives’ dedication to sustainability and environmental conservation, reinforcing its global strategy to promote responsible tourism and safeguard its pristine natural beauty.
Commenting on the feat, Visit Maldives’ CEO, MD Ibrahim Shiuree the match marks, not just a football match, but a cultural moment shared by millions.
“To have the Maldives name, and even our Dhivehi script, seen by hundreds of millions around the world will reflect how far our brand has come. This partnership will continue to deliver tremendous global media value, connecting the beauty of the Maldives with passion, community, and the world’s most loyal football fans,” he added.
The partnership with Liverpool FC, initiated earlier this year, continues to offer exceptional global exposure for the Maldives through LED displays, digital content, and social media campaigns. With games aired in more than 180 countries, Visit Maldives expects significant media value and strong brand recognition, further reinforcing the Maldives as a preferred destination among global travelers.
Visit Maldives states the collaboration highlights commitment to expanding into new source markets, fostering emotional connections through sports and storytelling, and delivering tangible outcomes through impactful international partnerships.
