Assault victim arrested for threatening to kill doctors, hiding knife inside pocket

A young man who was being treated in a hospital in Male’ for injuries he sustained in an assault on September 14 has been arrested by police for threatening to kill the medical staff who were treating his injuries.
In a statement on Sunday, a police spokesperson said that Looth Ibrahim, 28, Furusathu, GDh. Vaadhoo, was taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after he sustained injuries in an assault that took place at dawn on September 14.
But during his hospital stay, he allegedly threatened to kill the medical staff who were treating him, and was found to have kept a knife hidden inside his pockets.
According to the police, the incident took place in the afternoon of September 14.

Looth was arrested over the incident under a court warrant on Friday.
He was presented before a judge at the Criminal Court on Saturday, who remanded him in custody of the police for 15 days.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
Looth was also arrested back in January in a hit-and-run in Hulhumale’ that left injured an elderly pedestrian.
According to police, the incident took place on January 14, outside the Care Plus outlet in the Nirolhu Magu of Hulhumale’. According to the police, Looth had fled after crashing his motorcycle into a 63-year-old man who was walking down the street.
The elderly man sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital.
Looth was arrested the same day.
