The remand of a young man and woman who were arrested in a counter-narcotics operation in Male’ City in July was extended for the third time on Saturday, this time by 20 days.
Total 10 people were arrested on July 31 in a counter-narcotics operation during which the police raided two properties linked to the suspects, from where they seized 66.92 grams of drugs and three bottles of alcohol.
During their initial remand hearing on August 1, the Criminal Court granted conditional release to seven of the suspects, and remanded the other three in custody of the police.
They are:

Only two out of the original 10 arrested in the case remain in police custody, as Thaiseer was granted conditional release on August 8.
The other two – Akram and Faiha – were presented before a judge at the Criminal Court for an extension to their remand hearing on Saturday.
The court extended their remand by 20 days.
It marks the third time for their remand to be extended. The first time, their remand was extended by 15 days, and the second time on August 20, their remand was extended by 30 days.
Court documents show that both Akram and Faiha tested positive for drugs.
