The Visit Maldives Corporation has inaugurated 'Creatoll', a digital marketplace engineered to connect independent creators with tourism enterprises, government agencies, and foreign missions. Unveiled at the Public Service Media headquarters by Heena Waleed, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, alongside Ibrahim Shiuree, the CEO and managing director of the Visit Maldives Corporation, the initiative modernises the procurement of visual assets required to promote the nation.
Government ministries and embassies routinely require high-quality photographs and video content. Shiuree noted that the previous reliance on manual sourcing necessitated a streamlined approach. He stated that evaluating procurement methods revealed a dedicated platform would yield abundant promotional material while directly sharing economic benefits with local artists.
Public Service Media serves as a foundational partner. Ahmed Shakeeb, the managing director, announced that selected historical media from the national broadcaster’s extensive archives will become accessible. “When viewing PSM as the digital archive of the Maldives, particularly regarding audio and visual materials, we possess approximately 50 years of historical media within our holdings,” Shakeeb stated. This previously inaccessible material is now available to users governed by a memorandum of understanding.
Creatoll empowers creators to establish verified profiles, upload assets, dictate pricing structures, and generate direct income whilst retaining intellectual property ownership. Visit Maldives Corporation envisions the platform as a critical instrument to advance the creative economy and disseminate authentic narratives internationally.
