Met Office Issues Nationwide White Alert Over High Waves and Unstable Weather

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert for the entire country, warning of high waves and unstable weather conditions. The alert is in effect from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM today.
According to the forecast, rain and thunderstorms are likely in northern regions starting around 6:00 PM, while some islands may experience heavy rainfall. The Met Office noted that central atolls may be impacted by strong currents, whereas southern regions are expected to see generally fair weather.
Winds in southern atolls will blow from the southeast and south, while the rest of the country will experience south to southwesterly winds at speeds of 7 to 17 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour during squalls.
Sea conditions are forecast to be moderate to rough, especially during squalls, with wave heights ranging between 2 to 5 feet.
The Met Office has urged seafarers and the general public to remain cautious and monitor official weather updates, especially those planning travel during the afternoon and evening.
