STO seeks agents to sell 23 essential items in seven islands, including Dhidhdhoo and Ihavandhoo

STO (State Trading Organization) has announced that it is seeking agents to sell 23 types of essential food items, as determined by the company, across various islands. In this round, the opportunity is open to business owners in seven islands across the Maldives.
Islands where agents are being sought
The islands where STO has decided to seek agents are HA. Dhidhdhoo, HA. Ihavandhoo, R. Alifushi, R. Dhuvaafaru, Lh. Naifaru, L. Gamu, and GDh. Gadhdhoo. Business owners in these islands are now invited to apply for the agency.
Application deadline and required documents
Interested parties must submit their agent application forms by 15:00 on January 22, 2026. Documents required to be submitted with the form include a copy of the business registration, a copy of the GST registration, a copy of the ID card, contact number and email address, as well as a letter from the local Council.
Items to be sold and pricing
The 23 items that STO began selling on October 15, 2025, include onions, potatoes, eggs, lentils, coconuts, and various types of fruits and vegetables. These include bananas, apples, ginger, oranges, carrots, lemons, eggplant, passion fruit, sweet potatoes, mangoes, papaya, cabbage, watermelon, pumpkin, chili, grapes, and garlic.
STO previously stated that the prices for these items are determined based on market rates. The company noted that prices will fluctuate in accordance with market changes, and the latest prices can be viewed via the Ministry of Economic Development’s “Agumagu” portal.
Objective
This project is an effort to ensure that healthy food items are consistently available to the public at affordable prices. This initiative aligns with the Cabinet’s decision for STO to import and sell staple foods, fruits, and vegetables in bulk.
