Ihavandhoo Council President Sobah submits form to contest election as an independent candidate

The current President of the Ihavandhoo Council, Ahmed Sobah, has submitted his application to the Elections Commission (EC) to contest for the presidency of the council in this year’s local council elections.
Sobah, who is serving the current term as a member of the PPM/PNC coalition, is seeking a new term as the President of the Ihavandhoo Council as an independent candidate.
Speaking to “Thiladhun” today, Sobah stated that he and his team have now submitted their forms to the EC to contest the election. His team includes four members contesting for council seats alongside him, while the President and four members have submitted forms to contest for the Women’s Development Committee (WDC).
Sobah noted that he is contesting for a new term with a strong team because the public has requested it and because he wishes to continue working towards the development of the island.
“We have now opened up our team’s vision for public opinion; our vision is the people’s vision,” said Sobah, who also serves as the Vice President of the Haa Alif Atoll Council.
Sobah explained that he decided to contest independently due to the circumstances that unfolded when he sought a party ticket. He further emphasized that his team is highly capable.
The upcoming elections are scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 4th.
