Kulhudhuffushi City Council has announced that the Boziyaaraaiy Beach, developed by the council, is set to open tonight. The opening ceremony will feature live music and a fireworks display.
According to the City Council, the ceremony is scheduled to begin tonight (December 27, 2025) at 20:30. The council also noted that the event will be broadcast live on the private local channel “SSTV.”
The project, spearheaded by the Kulhudhuffushi City Council, includes an entrance with wheelchair access, a demarcated boundary, toilet blocks, beach huts, a barbecue area, showers, a dedicated children’s area, prayer facilities, a walkway, and extensive landscaping of the area.
The contract for the protection and development of the Boziyaaraaiy beach area was awarded to Benzy Private Limited on March 21, 2025, for a total value of MVR 3,378,000.24.
Additionally, the City Council opened “Galadhun Park” on the eastern side of the city earlier this month. Opened on December 4, 2025, the park features a dedicated children’s play area, an open stage with a capacity for 125 people (designed for small events), two squares for family gatherings, a party pavilion, a storeroom, and a toilet block.
The development of Galadhun Park cost a total of MVR 2,697,589.06 and was also carried out by Benzy Private Limited.
Furthermore, the Kulhudhuffushi City Council has developed several other public spaces, including a scenic viewing platform at the city’s “Mashi Kulhi” (mangrove area), which was inaugurated on September 10, 2025.
