Government to award 50 scholarships as Master’s in Nationalism begins next year

The government will introduce a Master’s program in Nationalism next year, Minister of Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim announced on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, Naseer said the President is prioritizing higher education opportunities in the field of nationalism, and 50 Master’s scholarships have now been allocated.
“The initial training is already underway at our ministry. This work is progressing, and formal teaching of the program will begin at the Islamic University,” he said.
Naseer said one of the ministry’s key responsibilities is to broaden the understanding of nationalism by introducing scientific and intellectual frameworks, rather than treating Dhivehi nationalism purely as an emotional concept.
According to the minister, more than 3,000 people have already received training on the scientific definitions of nationalism.
Promoting nationalism is a central pledge of the current administration. The government has established a dedicated Nationalism Office and introduced nationalism lessons in schools. It has also decided that all classes will begin with the national anthem to strengthen patriotism among students.
The minister also noted that 40 students have previously been awarded full scholarships for Master’s studies under the National Restoration Project.
