President Yameen have said that he does not see any way Nasheed can legally contest in the upcoming presidential elections.
Speaking at a ceremony held this morning at STELCO to hand over membership forms of newly joined PPM members from Addu, the President said that, even though the reality is like this MDP is just ‘revolving’ around one person. He said that he believes that MDP should bring some changes to their leadership.
President said that parties cannot progress by following one person and that parties can progress by collective work of all members. He said that PPM is able to be where it is today due to the hard work of all members. President said that each member of PPM works hard to develop the party.
“That is why every week we see some happy event like this. If members wait for an order by some senior figure to do something, then parties will not progress” said the President. The president also noted that parties can progress only when they are governed in accordance with party legislations and procedures.
More than 700 new people joined PPM today. At the moment PPM is the largest party in the Maldives and also the most active party.
