Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has extended the deadline to submit nominations for the party’s ticket to contest in the local council elections.
MRM had initially announced the deadline to submit nominations was January 25. However, the party issued a statement today, revealing the deadline has now been extended to February 10. The party has not revealed the number of nominations received by the end of the initial deadline.
Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced the application to contest in the local council elections will be opened on February 4. ECM said candidates will receive the 14 days stated by law to submit their candidacy.
The local council elections are scheduled to be held on April 4.
