E-Gaming arena to be established in Sultan Park

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has unveiled plans to establish an e-gaming arena at Sultan Park.
The project will include the development of 40 gaming stations. It also envisages a tournament arena capable of hosting international competitions, alongside a media room for streaming and broadcasting gaming content.
This initiative forms part of a broader government effort, in collaboration with youth stakeholders, to advance e-sports in the Maldives. Construction is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of this year, with the government aiming to complete the project within 360 days.
While public interest and support for e-sports remain high in the Maldives, the only current facility accommodating such activities is the former garage at the official presidential residence, Muleeage. Under the current administration, this space has been transformed into the “Youth Third Space”. The youth hub was designed as a youth-friendly and environmentally conscious venue that supports learning, skill development and social interaction, introduced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in response to requests from young people.
Although the space is used for e-gaming, it also hosts a range of youth-related activities. As such, the demand for a dedicated e-sports facility is particularly strong among the younger demographic.
In addition to gaming, the facility allows young people to organise a variety of programmes, including boot camps, skill-sharing sessions, virtual reality training, community art initiatives, interactive hubs, workshops and culinary events.
The “Youth Third Space” was inaugurated on 20 November 2025.
