Umar have been stripped off the authority to request for monitoring and control orders against dangerous criminals.
Instead the authority has been given to a four member committee. Now a MoniCon order can only be requested with the approval of the committee. The committee consists of Home Minister Umar، CP Areef، Fisheries Minister Shainee and Finance Minister Jihaad.
This change in the procedure will limit Home Ministers power in requesting for the order. Previously Minister had the absolute authority to request for orders.
