Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has stated that assassination of the incumbent President was not the way to assume leadership position and that way to a secure leadership was the love and respect of the public.
Speaking in TVM, Minister Saeed said that an assassination attempt was the biggest crime and added that such crimes cannot be left unaddressed.
He added that Maldives was rapidly developing and given the current situation the motives of the attack needed to be understood. Minister Saeed said that at the time when the nation was undergoing rapid economic reforms and development, it would have been deplorable if President Yameen had to rest in hospitable.
He said that it was clearly apparent that the explosion aboard the Presidential speedboat was a deliberate attempt on the President's life.
Minister Saeed said that violence was not a hallmark of democracy and that issues have to be resolved by discussions and negotiations.
