MP for Hulhuhenveyru constituency Reeko Moosa Manik have said that former President Muhammad Nasheed is politically isolated.
Speaking on Sun TV, Moosa said that there is no foreign power backing Nasheed and that he will never work with MDP unless Nasheed steps back. Moosa said that Nasheed tried to come back with the influence of USA, but since the election of Trump, USA is too busy to worry about other countries.
Speaking about the recent meeting of Nasheed with MDP members in Sri Lanka, Moosa said that the purpose of the meeting was to make sure that no one other than Nasheed can contest in the presidential elections on an MDP ticket.
Moosa said that the opposition does not have what it takes to compete with President Yameen and said that MDP came into existence to bring reforms and today we can see that these reforms are made by President Yameen.
In addition, he said that the opposition coalition has failed and Nasheed inviting some opposition members into MDP has weakened MDP.
Moosa was the former chairperson of MDP and resigned after MDP lost the 2013 presidential elections. He was forced out of MDP after he expressed his interest to run in 2018 Presidential elections as MDP candidate. Like all former leaders of MDP, who had an interest running for the post, Moosa was demonized by MDP since then.
