Kolhufushi Council has said that the island experienced flooding due to sea swells on Tuesday night.
Vice President of Kolhufushi Council Ahmed Naeem said that the water flowed about 11 ft into the island on the southern end, and about 50 ft on the north-eastern end.
The water also reached some houses but no one was harmed and no property was damaged, he said.
Naeem added that there was no flooding during high tide today.
Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) said earlier today that the risk of sea swells due to high tide has declined.
