President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the Maldives remains committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation with the United States in areas of mutual interest, in a message marking the 250th anniversary of US Independence.
In a letter addressed to US President Donald J. Trump, President Muizzu extended warm greetings to President Trump, the US government and the American people on the occasion.
The President said the anniversary held special significance for both countries as it also marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the United States.
He noted that the partnership between the two nations had grown steadily over the past six decades, founded on mutual respect, enduring friendship and a shared commitment to advancing peace and prosperity.
President Muizzu said the Maldives deeply valued its partnership with the United States and reaffirmed the country's commitment to expanding cooperation in areas including security and defence, trade and economic development, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
He concluded the letter by expressing his hope of continuing to work closely with President Trump to further deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples in the years ahead.
