The laywers of Nasheed has gone to Dhoonidhoo to meet with the former President Nasheed who was proven guilty of terrorism charges.
In the meeting being held with Nasheed in Dhoonidhoo، Uz. Hisan Hussain، Uz. Abdulla Sha’iru and Uz. Ahmed Abdulla Afeef of the legal team of Ex-President Nasheed، are participating.
The legal team of Nasheed stated that Nasheed is still under the custody of the Police and therefore، the police should provide the opportunity to contact with Nasheed.
When the trial of the Nasheed was conducted، the lawyers had withdrawn from the case claiming that they were not granted enough time to evaluate the case and were not allowed to provide the necessary legal counsel for President Nasheed.
After the lawyers had withdrawn from the case، Nasheed continued the trials without any legal attorney although he was given the opportunity to appoint one.
The lawyers have stated that even though they had withdrawn the case، they will be fully dedicated to provide the rights of Nasheed. The legal team of Nasheed has decided to appealed the sentence to the High Court.
