Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (Labour Party) has backed the government’s tax income policy, which was included in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s address on Thursday morning.
Noting that the Presidential Address has noted many factors that are prioritized by the Labour Party as well, the party issues a statement on Thursday, revealing its full support for the decision to implement income tax.
The party in its statement applauded the government for its decision to acquire economy tax starting next year.
Highlighting that the policy is an important step to prevent corruption within businesses, Labour Party stated that relevant institutions must be given full power to expose illicit and groundless wealth. The party also supported the government’s decision to implement a minimum wage policy.
Labour Party gave its full assurance to cooperate and assist the government in implementing the policies it had revealed via the Presidential Address on Thursday, including the ones regarding housing and improving the justice system.
