His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent separate letters of congratulations to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Emperor of Japan, and Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan, on the occasion of the National Day of Japan.
In his letter to His Majesty the Emperor, the President extended sincere good wishes on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives. He noted that the friendship between the two nations, nurtured over five decades, has grown into a strong and trusted partnership. The President highlighted Japan’s unwavering support as a true friend, which has contributed significantly to the development of the Maldives. He further expressed his desire to strengthen this valued friendship to create new paths for shared success and opportunity.
In a separate letter to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the President reflected on the long-standing and close friendship that has grown through meaningful cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasised Japan’s invaluable contributions to the Maldivian development journey and expressed his sincere hope that this friendship will continue to serve as a strong pillar of bilateral relations. The President conveyed his commitment to elevating these ties in the years ahead, opening new avenues of cooperation and shared progress for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The President concluded his letters by wishing His Majesty and the Prime Minister continued good health and happiness, as well as for the sustained success and prosperity of the friendly people of Japan.
The National Day of Japan is celebrated on February 23.
