Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) states weather will be worst today during the bad weather spell Maldives is currently experiencing, adding light rain is expected across the nation until Saturday.
Met Office told Sun on Wednesday said that most Maldives atolls are expected to experience rainfall over the next 24 hours, with some islands expected to see heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The weather forecasting body has forecasted winds between 13 miles per hour to 23 miles per hour and rough seas for all Maldivian regions on Wednesday.
“[Seas] are expected to be roughest today and are expected to calm down by late afternoon tomorrow,” an official from Met office said.
Met Office has forecasted light rain for the weekend. However, according to the weather forecasting body, generally fine weather is expected during the weekend.
Notably, a white alert is currently in effect from Haa Alifu Atoll to Faafu Atoll, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The white alert is in effect until 17:00pm this evening.
