According to the statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives has welcomed more than 590,000 tourists so far this year.
Statistics published last Thursday showed that the Maldives has welcomed a total of 593,956 tourists, which is a four percent increment compared to the same period last year.
While over 214,000 tourists visited the Maldives in February this year, tourist arrivals in the March from 1st to 26th stood at 165,002, which is an increment compared to the same period in the last three years.
The daily arrival average in annual terms is currently at 6,988.
From the total tourist arrivals, 69 percent of the tourists came to tourist resorts which is a total of 410,024 guests. Arrivals to guesthouses accounted for 25.5 percent of the total, which is 151,293 tourists.
Another 17,172 stayed in hotels and 14,936 stayed in safaris and liveaboards.

The tourism industry consists of 1,189 properties which give a combined bed capacity of 63,453. Out of the total registered properties, 98.9 percent is operational. This includes 179 tourist resorts with a combined capacity of 43,907 beds and 838 guesthouses with 14,364 beds.
Other properties such as hotels and safaris contributed 2,038 beds and 3,144 beds to the industry respectively.
Statistics also confirm a total of 44 international airlines operated to the Maldives currently.
