President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed for Liverpool, United Kingdom, last night to take part in the launch of a Maldives tourism promotion campaign in collaboration with Liverpool FC.
This initiative is part of the co-branded partnership between Liverpool FC and Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)/Visit Maldives.
On March 13, MMPRC/Visit Maldives announced its partnership as the 'Official Tourist Destination Partner' for Liverpool FC. The three and a half year collaboration aims to boost brand visibility and attract more tourists to Maldives.
Strengthening the campaign further, Visit Maldives launched an outdoor marketing initiative in the UK on March 27.
The three month campaign leverages high-impact digital and outdoor advertising across key locations in the UK, including more than 100 fully branded taxis in London, advertisements on buses, the London Underground, major airports, and business class lounges.
During his visit, President Muizzu will meet Maldivian students and tour the AXA Training Centre, where he will observe football training and coaching best practices.
The visit aims to explore ways to integrate high-performance training methods in Maldives. He will also visit Leeds University and Leeds Town Hall, where he is scheduled to meet with the Councillor of the City of Leeds.
Additionally, cabinet ministers will meet with officials from Red Way and the LFC Academy to discuss joint marketing efforts to enhance tourism promotion and strengthen ties between Maldives and Liverpool FC.
President Muizzu is accompanied by Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, Managing Director of MMPRC Ibrahim Shiuree, and other senior government officials.
President Muizzu is expected to conclude his visit and return to Male' on Saturday, April 5.
