Once Nasheed, family signs waiver, he can be sent aboard: Husham

Commissioner of Maldives Correctional Services Ahmed Husham has said that once former President Mohamed Nasheed and his family signs the waiver, which is applicable for all inmates going abroad for medical treatment.
Husham said that once the waiver is signed, the Service will comply with the travel arrangements made by the family. Husham added that if there was enough time, the Service will also make arrangements for Nasheed to meet the family at his residence.
“We have given the waiver at around 2.30 pm. It is a general waiver. Even if Colonel Nazim, MP Nazim or any other inmate wished to go abroad, then they will have to sign that waiver,” he said.
Husham further said that the Service had not received the air tickets for Nasheed’s travel, adding that signing the waiver was a prerequisite for travel.
Spokesperson for the Service, Moosa Rameez said that the decision to send Nasheed abroad was now entirely up to his family, as the Service had complied with the rules and regulations.
