The newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Adnan Cheema has presented his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, reaffirming UNDP’s commitment to supporting the Maldives’ development priorities.
During the meeting held Monday, Minister Dr Khaleel thanked UNDP for their assistance in advancing the priorities of the Maldives nationally, and internationally. He also expressed confidence in Representative Cheema’s experience and leadership in further strengthening the Maldives-UNDP partnership.
In response, Cheema stated that he stands ready to explore further opportunities to expand UNDP’s support to the Maldives to address its challenges and needs. He further affirmed that the UNDP wishes to continue playing a prominent role in the Maldives’ development journey.
The UNDP Office in the Maldives was established in 1978.
