Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) proclaimed on Tuesday that job intimidation and dismissal of employees over political purposes are still prevalent in the country.
Labour Party declared that it is unacceptable for employees to face unconstitutional intimidation and dismissal.
MLSDP urged unity amongst workers against politically motivated exploitation.
However, MLSDP did not disclose which institutions were allegedly committing such misconduct.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s governing coalition maintains that job security would not be compromised due to differences in political beliefs.
The current administration has to date replaced only members in political posts.
Labour Party stated that it would work to find ways of securing the rights of workers in cases of unfair dismissal and unconstitutional measures.
MLSDP also assured that they were prepared to aid on political and legislative levels.
Labour Party, headed by lawyer Abdulla Haseen, is one of the new parties recently registered by the Elections Commission (EC).
MLSDP had previously stated that they were prepared to make any sacrifice to secure workers' rights.
