Lawmakers have submitted a motion to the People’s Majlis to free former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed.
Speaking press outside the Majlis this Wednesday morning, deputy leader of Jumhoory Party (JP)’s parliamentary group, Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz said the motion was submitted to the Majlis with the endorsement of 49 lawmakers.
Riyaz said Nasheed’s trial was arbitrary. And that the motion called for Nasheed to be freed, as has been urged by the international community.
