Adhaalath Party has asked that the United Nations (UN) mediate the all-party talks with the government.
AP sent a tweet via its official Twitter account this Wednesday, expressing hope that the UN will accept their request to mediate the talks.
AP said in their tweet that they wanted the all-party talks as soon as possible, and said that they were willing to provide their unconditional cooperation.
Though AP has said that they would join the talks, they have not yet announced the official(s) who will be representing them at the talks.
The same goes for the main opposition party – Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) – which announced that their representative would be chosen by the party leadership.
Meanwhile, ruling party Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) also expressed willingness to join the talks, announcing that Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon and Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim (Wadde) will be representing them at the talks.
Jumhoory Party (JP) announced that Deputy Leader of its Parliamentary Group - MP Abdulla Riyaz, Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain, and Mathiveri MP Hussein Mohamed will be representing them at the talks.
Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) called out for both the Maldivian government and political parties to resume the all-party talks immediately and unconditionally during its meeting on September 23.
