"Supreme Court should declare Nasheed innocent" – Alhan

Former president and the leader of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)، who was sentenced to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges، should be declared an innocent man، urged former deputy president of MDP، former MP for Feydhoo، Alhan Fahmy.
Speaking to the press at Mookai Hotel today، Alhan said that Nasheed was prosecuted against Supreme Court’s ruling which states that Criminal Court Chief Justice Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed was detained in 2012 by a commission of the Government.
Alhan stated that the case will be filed in Supreme Court on coming Sunday.
He further said Supreme Court is failing to perform their responsibilities by staying silent while lower courts are issuing orders and verdicts، defying the rulings of Supreme Court.
“President Nasheed is not a convict. He did not commit a crime. He should be declared an innocent man by the Supreme Court،” Alhan said.
In addition، Alhan said that as long as Nasheed is not freed، there are no dialogues to hold with the Government to find peaceful resolutions.
