Maldives Contracts Thailand’s Control Data Ltd. for Civil Registration System Overhaul

The Maldives government has awarded a contract to Thailand-based Control Data Ltd. to redesign the country’s civil registration, vital statistics, and identification management system.
The project is being implemented under the Digital Maldives for Adaptation, Decentralization, and Diversification (DMADD) initiative, overseen by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology with grant assistance from the World Bank.
The agreement was signed by State Minister at the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath, while Control Data Ltd.’s Managing Director, Nart Liuchareon, signed on behalf of the company.
This initiative focuses on strengthening the Department of National Registration’s (DNR) foundational identity system under the second component of the DMADD project. Once completed, the system will support the operation of the e-Faas digital identity system managed by the National Center for Information Technology (NCIT). It will also enable real-time access to population records for local government authorities and councils, as well as statistical data required by the Ministry of Health and the Maldives Bureau of Statistics.
The project aims to ensure a more secure and accurate digital civil registration system for the Maldives.
