State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) announced today that an employee who was injured in a fire incident at the Hulhumalé Powerhouse has been taken to Thailand for further medical treatment.
In a message sent to the media, STELCO stated that the employee sustained serious injuries, including burns to various parts of the body, during the incident at the Hulhumalé Powerhouse. The employee initially received treatment at Hulhumalé Hospital and ADK Hospital. Following the advice of doctors, the employee has now been transferred to Bangkok Hospital for further care.
STELCO stated that it is closely monitoring the employee’s condition. STELCO also revealed that it is working to provide all necessary assistance to the family in connection with the injured employee’s treatment, overseeing all related matters and offering all possible support from the company’s side.
“Our prayer is that Almighty Allah grants the employee a swift recovery and the ability to return to work in good health,” the STELCO announcement read.
Work is currently underway to determine the cause of the incident and to take all necessary steps to prevent such incidents from recurring. Furthermore, STELCO stated that since the police have launched an independent investigation into the incident, the company is providing the police with all required cooperation.
