Police destroy more than 700 bottles of seized liquor in Dhoonidhoo

Police have destroyed a large quantity of seized liquor in Dhoonidhoo, including 777 bottles of liquor, 225 bottles of liquor and 10 other items.
According to Maldives Police Service, the items were part of cases that had reached the analysis stage and were confiscated by Drug Enforcement, Tourist Police and Hulhumale' Police. The destruction was carried out under the supervision of a committee formed under the Rules of Procedure for the Destruction of Liquor and Liquor‑related Seized Items.
Police note that alcohol‑related offences remain common in the Male' area, particularly in Hulhumale', with most suspects being foreigners. In one recent case, a 25‑year‑old Bangladeshi man was arrested in Hulhumale' with 26 bottles of 500ml liquor.
