The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has held a graduation ceremony for the second batch of its Certificate 1 in Basic Correctional Officers Training programme.
The ceremony was attended by Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zareer.
The course is designed to teach prison officer trainees their responsibilities, duties and skills. This is a basic training programme that new officers joining MCS are required to complete. A total of 19 participants completed the course.
The ceremony included the presentation of certificates to all graduates, along with medals and plaques to those who achieved higher distinctions and awards. Prison Private Ibrahim Aiham Abdullah was named the Best All Round of the programme while Prison Private Nisham Abdul Bari was named the Fittest Male Officer. Prison Private Sham Mohamed was recognised as the most outstanding officer from the Charlie Platoon while Prison Private Hassan Fareeh Mohamed was named the most outstanding officer from the Ivory Platoon. Charlie Platoon was awarded Best Platoon.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zareer urged the graduating officers to make good use of the knowledge gained through the programme and to remain committed to the oath they took. He emphasised the importance of upholding the value of their uniforms, and advised them to instill in themselves the love of serving the country and to remain steadfast in it.
