MDA member Mohamed Ismail has said that influential figures in the judiciary will be now taking lessons from the major changes brought to the judiciary.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Mohamed Ismail said that the influential figures in the judiciary should take heed from the decision of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to remove Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz and Supreme Court judge Muthasim Adnan following the decision to remove two judges from the Supreme Court bench.
He said that there is no loss for the public caused due to the decision to remove them. He said that the judges in the judiciary should be honest and just.
Mohamed said that these changes to the judiciary from within the Peoples’ Majlis is the first step in the endeavor of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to reform the judiciary.
He said that the Majlis passed to remove two judges and the JSC decided whom those two judges to be removed are.
Mohamed said that the judiciary should be transparent.
