Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) has extended the special programme conducted to aid customers having difficulties paying off outstanding charges in the water bill.
The programme was initially announced by MWSC in December 2019, with the objective of providing a plan for customers to pay off outstanding consumption charges while offering a waive on surcharges. MWSC said many customers have been unable to use the opportunity due to the COVID-19 situation, and announced the decision to extend the programme until March 17, 2021.
The state-owned company said customers who pay off outstanding consumption charges during this period will receive a waive on surcharges, depending on the percentage of outstanding charges paid. The company also said customers who cannot pay off all outstanding charges at once can opt to make payments on a convenient monthly plan and still be eligible for the waive on surcharges.
MWSC requested customers to contact its 24-hour call centre to seek further information on the programme.
