Bidding has been reopened for the development and operation of a tourist hotel in Baarah.

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has re-announced a tender to find a party to develop and operate a tourist hotel in the HA. Baarah Tourism Zone.
This marks the fourth time the Ministry has opened a tender to find a developer for this project.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, a land area of 71,832 (seventy-one thousand eight hundred and thirty-two) square meters has been allocated in Baarah for this project. The opportunity to submit bids is now open to parties interested in developing and operating a tourist hotel on this land.
Information Session and Bid Submission
An information session regarding this project is scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM. This meeting will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. Parties wishing to participate in the meeting must email [email protected] before 12:00 PM on February 22, 2025.
The deadline for bid submission is Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Bids must be submitted in person to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
Issuance of Bid Documents
The Ministry has decided to issue the bid documents for this project from February 1, 2026, to March 30, 2026. Bid documents will be available from the Ministry’s reception on the 5th floor of Velaanaage, or via email, between 09:00 AM and 01:00 PM on all working days.
The Ministry has requested that those requiring further information regarding this announcement submit their queries via email before March 26, 2026.
Under this project, a minimum of 50 beds must be developed.
Located approximately five minutes away from Hanimaadhoo International Airport, the development of this hotel in Baarah is a significant project aimed at expanding tourism in the region.
