Tourism Minister Ali Waheed’s grandfather has passed away, at the age of 100.
Abdulla Ziyad, Waheed’s maternal grandfather, passed away in Thoddoo island of Alif Alif atoll on Saturday.
The minister is currently in the island, to attend his funeral.
In a tweet posted on Saturday, Minister Waheed noted that his grandfather was the strongest person he had ever met, with the most unique personality.
While the minister’s mother is from Thoddoo island, his father is native to Kulhuduffushi island of Haa Dhaalu atoll. Waheed served as representative for Thoddoo constituency, in the 17th parliament.
