On the occasion of Maldives achieving its 1.5 million tourist target for the year, the ambassador of India to Maldives, Sanjay Sudhir has paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism , Ali Waheed
The ambassador congratulated the minister on achieving the 1.5 million tourist target and went on to discuss on ways to achieve the 2 million tourist target set for the upcoming year.
Official statistics from the Ministry of Tourism state that India alone accounted for 11, 265 of all visitors by the end of September this year.
This is a 14.8 percent increase compared the 5,244 visitors the year prior during the corresponding period.
The Indian market registered staggering growth in arrivals to Maldives, with an uptrend of 99.9% so far while placing second in single market contributors.
